How to Take Backup of Gmail Account?


Data backup is very important to place your important data safely. If you are regular user of Gmail account so backup is very important for you and your business. In this blog you will read about the Gmail backup processes.

How to Take Backup of Gmail Account?

Reason of data loss in Gmail:

  • Some hack your Gmail account.
  • You forgot your email password and there is no other method to sign in account again.
  • When account deleted accidently.

 

Method 1: With the help of another Gmail Account

Step 1: First, log in to Gmail account and then go to Settings.

Step 2: Click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Then, click on “Enable POP for all mail” in the POP Download section.
Note:  Also, ensure the selection of “keep Gmail’s copy in the Inbox”.

Step 3: After all alteration, click on Save Changes.

Step 4: Now, sign in to a new Gmail account (which is created to backup the main email account). Here, go to Settings -> Accounts and Import -> Check mail using POP and click on Add POP3 email account button.

Step 5: Add your main Gmail address & password. Once your mail client is configured, it will automatically start fetching emails from your main Gmail account.
Note: Check your email account periodically.

 

Method 2: Using Thunderbird

Step 1: First, open Thunderbird.

Step 2: Enter your Gmail username and password.

Step 3: Thunderbird will automatically download your e-mail.

 

Method 3: With the help of Outlook express

Step 1: Open Outlook Express, click on Tools -> Accounts -> Add -> Mail. Here, enter your name and click Next.

Step 2: Enter your Gmail address in the appropriate field and then, click Next.
Note: If you use Google apps, then enter ‘username@your_domain.com’.

Step 3: Now, in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) and smtp.gmail.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) type smtp.gmail.com. Click Next.
Note: If you are Google Apps users then must enter the server name instead of domain name.

Step 5: Now, enter email address and password and then click, Next -> Finish.

Step 6: Under Account section, highlight the pop.gmail.com and click Properties.

Step 7: Click the Advanced tab and the fill the information

  • Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), mark check in the box This server requires a secure connection (SSL)”.
  • In the Outgoing mail (SMTP), enter 465.
  • Under Incoming mail (POP3), mark check in the box “This server requires a secure connection (SSL)”. The port will change to 995.

Step 8: In the Servers tab. Check the box next to “My server requires authentication” and click OK.

 

Method 4: Copy messages in MS Word or Wordpad

This method is important, but you can’t copy large amount of data regularly.

You can use any of the above method to backup your Gmail messages and other important data.
