Microsoft Outlook consist two data file such as PST and OST where PST file is used for POP3, IMAP and web based mail where OST is used for MS Exchange account and in an offline mode. Also, it also works in the online mode and automatically performs the task when server is connected with MS Outlook. OST file stored Outlook data items such as Contacts, Messages, Tasks, Calendar, Notes, Journals, RSS Feeds, etc. In this blog, I have shared about some important points about OST file and manual solution to repair the OST files.
OST and PST both are used in MS Outlook where OST stands for Offline Storage Table and PST for Personal Storage Table. As the name defines that OST, is an offline folder which is used to save the exchange server data. You can use OST file, when you are not connected with the server. Whereas, PST files are used to store the email data in a system such as calendar, contacts, notes, tasks, etc. The main difference between the PST files is used for “actual” storage and OST files are used for “cached” storage.
